A Teachers Impact

On your blogs for this week, you should reflect on your experience in school when a teacher actually took the chance to know you and how that may have impacted your learning...

I was usually the quiet one, the one who did her work in class and went on with her day. I had a good relationship with all my teachers, but I didn't really open up to any of them except one; my 8th grade English teacher. To start this story, I still remember the day I went back to visit my 5th grade teacher. I told her I thought about teaching, and she thought it was a horrible idea. That reaction coming from a teacher herself was definitely unexpected. She told me I could do something better than teach. She told me I should not go into the profession of teaching. My dream was crushed from then on until I met my 8th grade English teacher. She taught me many things. Her approach to teaching was always new and exciting. English was definitely not my favorite subject, but with her personality and attitude towards her students made the class fun and I always looked forward to attending. The idea of teaching came to mind while I was in her class. I remember talking to her about wanting to teach. She thought it was a great idea! She only encouraged the idea. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be in the position I am today!

  1. How rude! It sucks when you have people like that in your life. But then again, it makes the people that push you to do better and encourage you that much more special (in my opinion anyway).
